My grandmother, Mary Mollie (Weathers) Shackelford often told us a story about when her sister and one of her children were killed by a train while living in Steens. She did not like to talk about it much so the details were spotty at best. We recently found this article in the Commercial Dispatch newspaper in Columbus Mississippi. We also went to the cemetery and found both headstones of her and her child.
