I am Ronald Shackelford and I find it is a little easier to work on the Shackelford name because of the past research work done by T. K. Jones in Lubbock, Texas via the Shackelford Clan Magazine and also The Shackelford/Shackleford Newsletters which were both discontinued, years ago.
There are also several books on the Shackelford name. Some of the data on the web is incorrect. Reasons for this, is that much of the genealogy field is done by hearsay, that includes family stories, Bible entries, census reports (which can be wrong because of spelling errors) and headstones which can also have wrong spellings.
There are several roadblocks concerning the Shackelford name, one being who was Henry Shackelford's father and also who were the parents of Paschal/Pascal Shackelford (I have my own research and conclusions). There are people who have the answers but they choose to remain secretive for one reason or another. I have a story that is hard to believe that I know someone is trying to hide but I will shine some light on the subject because I think anything concerning ones heritage should be available.
I will make all my data public and it does not matter about the nature of the instance as long as it is true. I will also make as many pages of the census, public, as possible. Transcribing is a problem for me because I do web work and it takes so much time but every now and then I get a chance to work on my hobbies.
I also research Weathers, McGee and Parker along with any side names that pop up. I have friends all over the USA that I hope to begin talking with again and trading information.
